LPD officer fires weapon during Central Lubbock arrest, no injuries reported

LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) - One suspect is in custody and Lubbock police are investigating after an officer fired his weapon while responding to a domestic call near the Omni Apartment complex at 53rd & Salem on Wednesday afternoon.

Police tell us the call came in Wednesday afternoon at 4:40 p.m. Upon arrival, the officer heard shots fired in the area. The officer located an armed subject and instructed him to lower his weapon.

Then, police say, “The officer fired his duty weapon one time, causing the subject to comply. The suspect, 19 year-old Mark Casias III, was immediately taken into custody.”

Lt. Leath McClure with the Lubbock Police Department confirmed that the officer fired his weapon one time, but the round did not strike the subject.

No injuries have been reported as of Wednesday night.
